About

Over the last year everyone throughout the world has been forced to deal with rapid social and economic change in unprecedented times. For some they remain overcome with grief due to losing loved ones as a result the pandemic. For others they are trying to restart a business and resume normal life. Anxiety and depression have been at high levels throughout America. In spite of all this, there are tremendous opportunities for those who want to go into therapy and change their lives. As a clinician I try to welcome change and uncertainty even when it is difficult. I want to be the positive agent of change in someone's life, maximizing their growth and potential in a supportive non-judgmental manner. I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family therapist since 2002. After graduation from Pepperdine University in 1997 I worked for many years serving children and their families in various settings. I worked as a foster care social worker and then at clinics for children with behavior problems that interfered with school progress. Part of my work as a therapist was providing therapy services for children under Assembly Bill AB 3632. This bill earmarked funds for children with emotional problems that interfered with academic progress to get therapy, when in normal circumstances it would have been impossible I have extensive experience working not just with children but in conducting family therapy, so that parents are better able to respond and adapt to behavior problems in a healthy non-punitive manner. For many years I ran outpatient groups at a psychological hospital. It was in this setting that I honed my crisis intervention skills and worked directly with clients and staff to prevent individuals from relapsing on alcohol and drugs. While employed in a private practice I assessed and provided treatment with individuals dealing with workplace injuries and harassment. I have extensive experience working with clients who are dual diagnosed with mental problems in combination with a substance abuse problem. This experience has helped me to find community resources and create in depth treatment plans that will assist the individual in attaining long term sobriety. Therapeutic Paradigms: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy
