About
My name is Jacinta, and I am licensed to practice marriage and family therapy in the state of California using telehealth therapy. I am also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT). My education, training, and experience include a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, specialization in Art Therapy Psychology, and grant funding for a creative art therapy program for a high school in northern California. My background includes being deputized in the Office of the Public Guardian to work in southern California’s mental health courts. I also conducted investigations as a Lanterman-Petris-Short Investigator at state hospitals. In northern California, I began my internship as a court-mandated family therapist for the juvenile justice programs. I have additional specialization in gerontology. My work with “mature adults” is to provide treatment services with a focus on the developmental process of aging. In addition, I am supportive of religious inclusivity, which addresses and supports families, individuals, and couples who seek to balance religion in treatment. Treatment begins with rapport building and forming trust. Trust can be established when one is comfortable with discussing the behavioral, social, or environmental stressor(s) that create a need for seeking therapy. After these problems have been identified, therapy continues with an exploration of emotions and personal history. This process is in order to understand how symptoms originated and if symptom management can liberate one’s confidence. Therapeutic Paradigms: Art Therapy , Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Extended, Family Therapy, Object Relations Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy
