About
Hello! I am a first generation Mexican-American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I received my Masters from Mount Saint Mary's University and have been practicing since 2017. I help my clients get insight into why they are feeling the way they are feeling and assist them in better navigating their mental health. I am a big advocate for self-compassion and help my clients learn how to be kinder to themselves even when life is rough. I practice in English, Spanish, and Spanglish (because somethings just don't translate the same). In our first session together, here's what you can expect: Our first session will focus on getting to know each other. I will be asking questions about what brings you to therapy, what your goals are, as well as what you are looking for in a therapist and how I can support you in your mental health journey. I will also ask what you would like therapy to look like for you. I do not have any expectations for the the first session, except getting to know you. Please feel free to ask me questions as well. This is your opportunity to also see if I am the right fit for you since it is really important that you connect and feel comfortable with your therapist. The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions: As a first generation Mexican-American therapist, I have a good understanding of the struggles that my community faces. I provide culturally sensitive care because our culture tends to influence our views on mental health. I am a good listener and pride myself in being transparent in my work. The clients I'm best positioned to serve: I enjoy working with clients who have recognized that something isn't working and want to make a change. You don't need to know what change or how you want that change. We can figure that out together. If you struggle with prioritizing yourself, low self-esteem, insecurity, worry, difficulty setting boundaries, figuring out your next step in life, or navigating family issues, I can help with that. I lead with compassion because I know what it feels like to be in therapy and if you're anything like me, sometimes we need to be called out but in a gentle way. I provide a gentle approach to therapy where we partner together to achieve your goals.
